Program Overview

Support excellence in medical care as a competent Medical Coding professional after completing this diploma program. You’ll be prepared for a career that’s in demand in the growing healthcare industry, assigning medical diagnoses and procedure codes to patient records – valuable data used for medical billing, research, reporting, statistics and more.

After graduating, you'll be eligible to take the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) national exams to boost your career potential. You may also choose to continue your studies at M State to earn your associate degree in Health Information Technology/Coding; we make it easy to transfer your Medical Coding diploma credits into that degree program.

You’ll learn:

Health record documentation coding using nationally-recognized classification systems such as ICD and CPT/HCPCS
Microsoft Office and other technology applications to collect, maintain and share healthcare-related information
Laws, ethics and confidentiality in healthcare settings
Electronic health record preparation and management
