Success navigators are available on campus and online to help students transition to college. The team is an early point of contact to help students onboard, navigate college systems and processes, and connect to resources, setting students up for success.

First-year students can expect success navigators to check in with them throughout the year.

If you're a first-year student, success navigators can:

  • Help you find resources to prepare for college
  • Assist with first year course options
  • Keep you up to date with opportunities on and off campus
  • Connect you with career assessment and exploration tools to align your major with your interests and career goals
    • Start at Focus 2 Career, a career, major and education planner! The access code is "mstate."
  • Help you navigate college systems and processes, including technology, paying for college, D2L (online learning platform) and more

Drop-in services

Students can drop into the Fergus Falls, Wadena, and Moorhead campuses in person for support. All students can access our Virtual Student Support Zoom Room in SpartanNet. Visit the front desk or Student Services during the following times: 

Fergus Falls

Located behind the front desk

Monday: noon - 1:00 p.m. 

Tuesday: noon - 1:00 p.m. 

Wednesday: noon - 1:00 p.m.  

Thursday: noon - 1:00p.m.

Moorhead

Located in Student Services

Start Smart Workshops are two-hour events designed for all new and transferring students.

At a workshop, you'll learn about:

  • Syncing email to your phone
  • Ways to pay for school
  • Logging into your account
  • Making sure items are completed for financial aid processing
  • Meeting other students
  • Viewing upcoming schedules
