Description
This is a clinical experience course related to the performance of microbiological tests under the supervision of laboratory professionals at an affiliate laboratory. This course provides further investigation and study of the methods and techniques related to bacteriology, mycology and parasitology.

Competencies
  1. Demonstrate proper laboratory safety techniques and procedures.
  2. Evaluate quality assurance and quality control as they pertain to microbiological tests.
  3. Perform maintenance and calibration on microbiology analyzers and equipment.
  4. Perform microbiology laboratory procedures.
  5. Troubleshoot testing errors and unexpected test results.
  6. Evaluate specimens as acceptable or unacceptable for analysis.
  7. Correlate microbiology patient test results and theories with states of health and disease.
  8. Comply with course and college policies and procedures.
