Prep for success
Your next steps after acceptance to M State.
You've been accepted to M State! Now what?
Follow our step-by-step checklist:
- Complete the placement process
Take a placement test, if needed. M State uses ACT, SAT, MCA, Accuplacer scores, high school GPA or previous coursework to determine course placement. Accuplacer assessment is available both in-person and online for students who would like to test.

- Submit your immunization records
You are required to provide the college with your most recent vaccination dates for measles, mumps and rubella, or MMR (at least one dose required after 12 months of age), and tetanus/diphtheria, or Td (typically updated every 10 years).
- Fill out our immunization form (under "Admissions" and then "Immunization form"). Please see the form for any exemptions.
- Explore your program
You were required to choose a major when you applied to the college. We encourage you to read up on your chosen program online so you know what, if any, special admissions requirements you may need to complete before you can enroll in classes, and so you have a full understanding of the classes you'll need to take in order to complete your degree or diploma.
If you're interested in multiple programs, and/or are still unsure of your major, you may explore your interests by reviewing our program pages.
Our enrollment team is happy to help answer any questions you might have about your program of study.
- Send your final transcripts
You are required to send M State your final high school transcript (with graduation date) and any official college transcripts (with final grades) if you have previously attended other colleges, to email@example.com. They may also be mailed to our M State Processing Center, 1414 College Way, Fergus Falls, MN 56537.

- Register for classes
Academic advising services are offered to all students. During your registration event or new student advising appointment, you and an advisor will discuss your academic plan before you register for classes.
- Pay your college bill
Make sure to submit your FAFSA, or make a prepayment before the semester starts, in order to stay enrolled in your courses. There are many different options when determining how to pay your college bill:
- Know your StarID and password
You were generated a StarID username when you filled out your application online. Your StarID will be used to log into eServices, which is where you will register for courses, view your financial aid status, pay tuition, view your unofficial transcripts and much more.
