Description
This course is the laboratory component of a comprehensive introductory overview of diagnostic chemistry that includes basic fundamental concepts of analytical principles, techniques and correlation of results in the science of body chemistry. Learners will practice performing basic laboratory techniques related to diagnostic chemistry analysis including the preparation, analysis, interpretation and reporting of quality control material and patient sample results.

  1. Calculate and interpret selected medical chemistry measurements.
  2. Perform manual and automated chemistry tests.
  3. Calculate and interpret various laboratory measurements.
  4. Recognize acceptable and unacceptable quality control material and patient sample results.
  5. Troubleshoot pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical issues.
  6. Accurately report quality control material and patient sample results.
  7. Demonstrate laboratory safety and use of Standard Precautions.
