Description
This is an introductory course for Medical Laboratory Technology students covering the production, maturation, function and abnormalities of blood cells and coagulation to maintain body homeostasis.

  1. Explain the production, maturation sequence, destruction and function of erythrocytes.
  2. Correlate the production of abnormal erythrocytes to signs, symptoms and pathophysiology of hematologic disorders.

  4. Compare the function of leukocytes in health and in disease.
  5. Correlate hematological abnormalities with signs and symptoms of leukocyte disorders.
  6. Explain the production, maturation sequence, destruction and function of thrombocytes.
  7. Describe the coagulation cascade.
