Description

This course explores the role of limited scope radiographers. Foundational principles that address ethical and legal aspects, professionalism and interpersonal communication skills are presented. The course also includes patient care and monitoring techniques, medical emergencies, universal precautions and infection control processes.

Explain the importance of professional behavior by limited scope radiographers.
Simulate interpersonal communication skills with patients, health care team members and others (e.g. physicians, general public, etc.) in the lab setting.
Discuss the importance of abiding by ethical and legal principles in health care.
Explain why confidentiality practices are important in health care.
Demonstrate routine and emergency patient care and monitoring techniques.
Recognize medical emergencies and traumatic injuries.
Identify and practice universal and infection control procedures.
Manipulate radiographic equipment and accessories during patient care procedures.
Perform patient transfer techniques while using proper body mechanics.
