Description
Meets MnTC Goal Area 6F. This course provides an introduction to the elements and principals of visual arts and to the creative process. Students are encouraged to use a variety of media in drawing, painting and sculpture.
Competencies
  1. Demonstrate creative problem solving.
  2. Generate original works of art in two-dimensional media that demonstrate use of the art elements.
  3. Generate original works of art in two-dimensional media that demonstrate use of the design principles.
  4. Generate original works of art in three-dimensional media that demonstrate use of art elements and design principles.
  5. Demonstrate basic technical competency of media/materials introduced in the course.
  6. Use appropriate art vocabulary acquired in the course.
  7. Recognize the influences of historic art styles and artists on contemporary art works.
  8. Participate in class critiques through class discussion or written critiques.
  9. Reflect on the work of professional artists at galleries, websites, museums or other such venues.
