Description

This course covers suspension and steering systems currently in use. Students learn suspension and steering designs and applications. The course covers vehicle alignments and alignment measurements, including: camber, caster, toe and advanced measurements.
Corequisites

Competencies

  1. Perform wheel alignment following manufacturer's specifications.
  2. Understand, diagnose and repair vehicle suspension concerns.
  3. Understand, diagnose and repair manual and power steering systems (electric and hydraulic).
  4. Exhibit safety precautions and professionalism. Maintain a clean and safe work space following OSHA and manufacturer guidelines.
  5. Understand, diagnose and repair vehicle load bearing components, including: leaf springs, struts, coil springs and related components.
  6. Understand and identify Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
  7. Understand and identify vehicle electronic suspension and steering control systems.
  8. Understand, diagnose and repair tire and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) concerns.
  9. Use service information to identify and repair vehicle suspension and steering systems.
