Phlebotomy Technician

Become an important part of the medical patient diagnosis and treatment process with our Phlebotomy Technician certificate program. You’ll be trained to safely draw blood from patients for various lab tests and will practice standard procedures as well as troubleshooting in cases where instruments malfunction or there are unexpected results. 

You’ll learn professional communication skills, safety and infection control standards, and other skills needed for employment in an outpatient clinic or hospital setting. The program includes a valuable five-week clinical experience at an affiliate healthcare facility. Upon graduation, you’ll be prepared for the phlebotomy Board of Certification exam.

You’ll learn:

• Proper collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis
• Point of care (bedside) testing according to laboratory policies and procedures
• Safety and infection control standards in the collection and processing of biological specimens
• Maintenance of accurate records for quality assurance and quality control
• Ethical standards and professional communication with healthcare professionals, patients and the public
