‘Tis the season of happy holidays and high spirits, and M State’s upcoming concert offers a sweet-sounding way to celebrate. Featuring a variety of familiar, uplifting vocal and instrumental songs of the season, the Fine Arts Department’s 2023 holiday show will shine an especially bright spotlight on selections from Handel’s Messiah and Mannheim Steamroller.

The Sunday, Dec. 3 matinee concert will begin at 2 p.m. in Legacy Hall with a performance by M State’s Concert Choir, Voice Ensemble and Chamber Chorale, along with a string ensemble. An intermission with dessert treats will follow, and then the show will move to Waage Theater, where the Concert Band will perform.

“Our students have been enjoying preparations for this concert, filled with traditional and familiar melodies,” says Laura Quaintance, Music Faculty at M State and Director of the choirs. “We are proud to showcase a number of our singers through solos, and our choirs are thrilled to sing with the string ensemble. Our audience is sure to leave this afternoon of music in the full holiday spirit.”

Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door (school-aged students get in for $5, free admission for M State students and staff with a college ID). They may be purchased in advance at the Fergus Falls Campus Store or online at mstate.universitytickets.com.
