Description
This directed study course is designed to assess cognitive, affective and psychomotor learning that requires the command, analysis and synthesis of knowledge and skills. The course integrates prior learning and knowledge and experiential work experience to enable students to demonstrate their level of academic and hands-on learning experiences at the associate degree level. These credit hours serve as concentration hours for the program.

  1. Identify the concept of disciplinary perspectives to analyze prior learning background and professional experiences to determine higher-level learning and relevant curricular connections.
  2. Apply concepts and methodologies of the discipline; based on work and external learning experience(s).
  3. Conduct an in-depth, detailed and nuanced understanding of specific program outcomes, course topics and industry-related skills and standards.
  4. Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skill in a disciplinary and/or industry-specific area.
  5. Articulate an understanding of, and differentiate between, critical specific aspects of the subject area and its relationship to other related fields.
  6. Demonstrate a broad understanding of career/program specialization regarding personal and professional growth.
  7. Synthesize theoretical academic concepts to performance and affective practices.
