This course covers the principles of heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems. Students research service information, including refrigerant/oil types, vehicle service history, service precautions and technical service bulletins. They learn to understand, diagnose and repair various types and designs of heating and air conditioning systems and refrigerants.

  2. Demonstrate proficiency in understanding and communicating service manuals and technical information to accurately diagnose and repair systems.
  3. Identify and explain the operation of heating and air conditioning systems.
  4. Follow current rules and regulations for service of all heating and air conditioning systems.
  5. Correctly identify and perform cooling system service, including back flushing.
  6. Correctly identify air conditioning refrigerant types and repair procedures.
  7. Correctly perform evacuation and recharge of vehicle air conditioning systems to current regulations.
  8. Properly diagnose climate control systems using the latest electronic scan tools.
  9. Follow the latest industry diagnostic and repair standards.
