Description
Meets MnTC Goal Area 6F. Individual voice lessons of one hour per week are open to advanced students with instructor's consent. The course is required of voice performance or voice pedagogy majors and includes required performances. Students interested in this course should contact the music department so that instruction may be arranged. There is an additional fee, and it may be repeated for credit.
Competencies
  1. Progress in the skills of reading and realizing piano scores by studying a variety of music styles and vocal techniques
  2. Analyze those works as expressions of composers who created within particular style periods, for particular keyboard instruments and for particular audiences
  3. Interpret music using stylistic conventions and techniques of the period in both melody structure and libretto
  4. Express their own musical ideas within the framework of the printed score
  5. Articulate their observations and ideas about the music studied using appropriate musical language
  6. Perform appropriate literature during student recital hour performance or recital
