Pregnancy and Parenting Requests Procedure
If you are a student balancing your academic goals with pregnancy, childbirth, or parenting, M State is committed to supporting your success. We can provide reasonable modifications to help ensure you have the resources and flexibility needed to continue your education. These steps briefly outline the official process for requesting these adjustments and explains how our Title IX coordinator and parenting navigator will partner with you.
Step 1
Student files a Pregnancy, Childbirth & Parenting Reasonable Modifications Request* comes to TIXC/PN via email from Maxient. Auto loads into case EFC after case is created from the IR.
Step 1a
Title IX/parenting navigator receives information that a student is pregnant or needs support as a parent. Title IX/parenting navigator sends a link to the student to complete the Pregnancy, Childbirth & Parenting Reasonable Modifications Request.
Step 2
Title IX coordinator/parenting navigator creates case in Maxient & sends response letter from Maxient to student telling student that the process has begun, attaching resource documents. TIXC/PN then emails student in email system to seek information on what support is needed at this time and understand the plan for the term. TIXC/PN connects student to social work or counseling if appropriate at this time via email introduction.
Step 3
TIXC/PN sends letter from Maxient to faculty assigning modifications for the current term only at this time. The pdf modifications assignment document for the student is attached to Maxient letter. If an ongoing matter for multiple terms, new letters sent after status assessed each term.
Step 4
(Ongoing) TIXC/PN checks in via email with students receiving modifications monthly to see if they need adjustments or more resources.
