Meets MnTC Goal Areas 2 and 6F. This course is an introduction to digital tools and graphic imaging technology emphasizing digital art and concepts. It provides a study of the capabilities of a variety of digital software and hardware for artistic purposes. Students will acquire, identify and demonstrate the use of terminology, technical abilities, basic visual elements and principles of design common to digital artwork.

Competencies
- Demonstrate the basic visual elements and principles of design that are common to all works of art, and use these elements and principles digitally to create images, compositions and designs.
- Demonstrate basic computer operation using visual software programs.
- Demonstrate technical abilities by successfully completing a variety of imaging assignments, which may include scanning, digital drawing and use of lens-based technology.
- Identify terminology, advantages and limitations of a variety of digital imaging software.
- Demonstrate an increased appreciation of the vital role and value of the fine arts and humanities in the development of culture.
- Explain and evaluate the effectiveness of personal artwork and the work of others through critique.
