The course is designed to allow for career-related activities encountered in the student's area of specialization offered through a cooperative experience between the College, employer and student. Under supervision of the employer, the student combines classroom learning with work experience(s) directly related to an academic/technical discipline. Specific learning objectives guide the student through the work experience.

Competencies

  1. Explain the concept of prior learning and define college-level learning.
  2. Explore the context of Bloom's Taxonomy and its relationship to both adult education and college-level learning.
  3. Align the concepts of interdisciplinary studies to the fundamentals of connecting experiential learning and workplace competencies to program and course outcomes.
  4. Gain on-the-job experience and practical hands-on learning while outlining learning activities related to job tasks and role functions.
  5. Comply with all organizational, industry-specific, institutional and instructional guidelines as presented (Cooperative Experience and Application and Weekly Work Reports).
  6. Attend a minimum of 22 cooperative contact hours/week (two lectures, 20 coop) = 3 credit hours.
