Blue & Gold Scholars program creates a tuition-free pathway at M State Fergus Falls
Minnesota State Community and Technical College (M State) proudly announces the launch of the Blue & Gold Scholars program, ensuring a tuition-free education for eligible students. The initiative is designed to significantly lower or eliminate student debt for eligible students from area high schools, empowering graduates to focus on their futures.
The Blue & Gold Scholars program is a merit-based “last dollar” scholarship that covers all remaining tuition and fees after other scholarships and grants are applied. Scholars are rewarded for their academic achievements not only financially, but also with perks like VIP registration and special recognition events. Funded by the Fergus Area College Foundation (FACF), the program is open to graduates of 21 designated high schools and to homeschooled graduates within those districts.

“Our goal is to keep talented, engaged students in our region and help them thrive here,” says M State President Carrie Brimhall. “The Blue & Gold Scholars program not only makes college more attainable but also strengthens campus leadership and enriches the college experience for all. It’s a win for students, schools and the entire community.”
The program’s benefits extend beyond the classroom, as scholars are required to meet minimum GPA requirements as well as participate in athletics, fine arts, student organizations or campus leadership – building skills that will serve them throughout their lives and enriching campus life for all. The program also celebrates partnerships with local high schools, recognizing the schools and scholars through special events and promotions.
Partner high schools include: Ashby, Barnesville, Battle Lake, Brandon-Evansville, Breckenridge, Campbell-Tintah, Chokio-Alberta, Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley, Fergus Falls (Kennedy Secondary and Hillcrest Academy), Hancock, Henning, Herman-Norcross, New York Mills, Parkers Prairie, Pelican Rapids, Perham, Rothsay, Underwood, West Central Area Secondary and Wheaton.
“FACF is thrilled to support the Blue & Gold Scholars program,” says FACF President Erin Smith. “By investing in our students, we’re investing in the future of our communities. This program ensures that bright, motivated young people have the resources and encouragement they need to succeed, right here at home.”
