Description
This course will focus on the pneumatic and electrical air brake systems used on straight truck and tractor-trailer applications. Students enrolled in this course should have a firm understanding of foundation brakes and wheel ends. Areas of emphasis will include theory of operation, pneumatics, valve operation, component identification, schematics and anti-lock systems.
Competencies
  1. Identify pneumatic components used in brake systems.
  2. Utilize schematics to troubleshoot pneumatic systems.
  3. Analyze various brake valves and explain theory of operation.
  4. Identify anti-lock components used in a pneumatic brake system.
  5. Utilize a digital volt ohm meter to test anti-lock system components.
  6. Utilize OEM software to troubleshoot and diagnose anti-lock system fault codes.
