Description

This course provides hands-on learning in an echocardiography laboratory as simulated in a clinical environment. Students will be introduced to ultrasound imaging equipment, transducer position, echocardiographic views and scanning techniques following an adult transthoracic two-dimensional echocardiography exam protocol. Students will also become familiar with transducer motions associated with echocardiographic imaging.

  2. Demonstrate the use of psychomotor skills when acquiring two-dimensional (2D) imaging in the creation of an echocardiography image.

  5. Demonstrate how to prepare the examination room, ultrasound equipment and patient for an exam.
  6. Prioritize proper body mechanics and ergonomics during an exam.
  7. Comprehend the use of M-mode for the assessment of heart structure.
  8. Demonstrate a systematic approach to a 2D echocardiography examination.
