M State’s Health Information Technology/Coding associate of applied science degree program has been granted continuing accreditation for an additional seven years by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) and has been named a CAHIIM Program of Distinction, the accreditor’s highest level of recognition.

The Program of Distinction designation is reserved for a select group of accredited programs that demonstrate exemplary practices, leadership and a strong commitment to quality in health information management education.

In addition to meeting rigorous national accreditation standards, programs receiving this recognition engage in ongoing evaluation of curriculum, instruction and outcomes. This work supports continuous improvement and helps ensure students are learning current, relevant skills aligned with workforce expectations in the healthcare field.

Following a comprehensive review, CAHIIM confirmed that the M State program continues to meet national accreditation standards and commended the program for its leadership and innovation in health information management education. The M State program is one of just 31 higher education institutions across the nation listed as a Program of Distinction on the CAHIIM website.

The program’s next accreditation review is scheduled for the 2033–34 academic year.
