63 M State students awarded $2,500 workforce development scholarships
Sixty-three Minnesota State Community and Technical College (M State) students have been awarded $2,500 scholarships this academic year through the Minnesota Legislature’s Workforce Development Scholarship program.
The scholarships can be renewed for a second year for a total maximum award of $5,000 per student over four semesters, which covers about half the cost of tuition for full-time students at M State.
Newly-entering students who enroll in degree and diploma programs for careers in more than 40 high-demand fields – such as healthcare, IT, early childhood education, advanced manufacturing, public safety and transportation – may be eligible to receive a scholarship. Those who enroll in one of these programs at M State or another Minnesota State system college or university and complete a FAFSA (Federal Application for Student Aid) are automatically considered.
Additional eligibility requirements include taking at least 9 credits per semester, maintaining a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, and being a Minnesota resident.
Workforce Development Scholarships began in 2017 and are made possible by state funding as well as private match funds. For more information, visit minnesota.edu/workforce-development-scholarships.
