Race for the M State Cup heads to Interstate Raceway Aug. 9

M State’s School of Applied Technology is partnering with Interstate Raceway to present the M State Motorsports Invitational on Sunday, Aug. 9, at Interstate Raceway in Glyndon. Part of the popular two-day Rolie Racing Weekend, the event will bring together regional drag racers competing for the M State Cup while giving M State students a firsthand look at the fast-paced world of motorsports.

The event reflects M State’s commitment to connecting classroom learning with real-world industry experiences and helps automotive students see how the skills they develop in class translate into real-world opportunities.

The invitational will provide M State students with exclusive access to trackside seating near the starting line, opportunities to meet racers and race officials, and a behind-the-scenes look at race operations. Students will gain firsthand exposure to areas such as race timing and staging, motorsports marketing and media, event operations, and potential internship opportunities within the racing industry.

The weekend begins Saturday with a variety of heads-up racing classes and specialty competitions before culminating Sunday with the M State Motorsports Invitational. Bracket winners will return for a Race of Champions showdown, where one driver will be crowned the M State Cup Champion. 

The public is invited to attend. Gates open at 8 a.m., with racing beginning at 10 a.m. 

Interstate Raceway is located at 4147 70th St. S., Glyndon, MN. Admission is $10 for M State students with a valid student ID, $15 for adults and $5 for children ages 7-12. Children ages 6 and under are admitted free.
