October 2026 Update

During a meeting of the Minnesota State Board of Trustees in St. Paul on October 14, the Board received the recommendation to move forward with the closure of the M State Detroit Lakes campus. At the meeting, M State President Carrie Brimhall reiterated the college's commitment to our students and employees and to remaining strong as an institution.

The Board approved the recommendation to initiate the process for considering closure of the Detroit Lakes campus. A final vote on the closure is expected at the Board's November meeting, after consideration of community input gathered during a public hearing in Detroit Lakes on November 5. A notice of that hearing will be placed in the Detroit Lakes Tribune and shared on this page in the near future.
