June 2026 update

Building Appraisal 

A building appraisal process is currently underway, and we anticipate the results will be available by August. The purpose of the appraisal remains to better understand the current value of the facility and identify deferred maintenance and repair needs. 

System-level Involvement 

President Brimhall had a conversation with the Minnesota State Chancellor in early June to discuss the communications that have been shared with M State employees. This discussion was an important step in ensuring alignment and thoughtful evaluation of our next steps.

Facilities Decision Timeline 

To ensure we have informed planning, a decision regarding the Detroit Lakes campus facility will be finalized during the 2026-27 academic year. 

2026–27 Academic Year/Detroit Lakes Campus Academic Programs

We want to reaffirm our commitment to launching both the Nursing and Radiologic Technology program cohorts for the 2026–27 academic year. These programs remain a priority, and we are committed to ensuring a successful start.

Academic Program Space Planning

We continue to have ongoing conversations regarding potential spaces within the Detroit Lakes community to support academic program relocations. Identifying all viable options remains a key focus as we plan for the future.
