Hit the road to generosity and drive out hunger with M State’s “Fill the Car” food drive!

Happening November 17-21 across all four M State campuses as part of national Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, this community-centered event supports students facing food insecurity. All week long, M State’s electric car will be parked in the east commons at the Moorhead campus – ready to be packed with non-perishable food donations.

Students, staff, faculty and community members are encouraged to stop by and drop off items throughout the week, during regular campus hours. Every box of cereal, can of soup and jar of peanut butter helps fuel success for the M State community. Not on the Moorhead campus? No problem – just bring your donations to the student services information desk at any M State campus.

Tyler Strand, M State social worker and event organizer, says the drive is about more than food, it’s about solidarity: “We want this to be a visible act of care. When we fill that car, we’re showing students that their community is here for them. Let’s charge up our campus with support!”

What’s needed most? Easy-to-store staples like cereal, mac-n-cheese, peanut butter, canned foods, and household essentials like toothpaste and paper products. Help out by bringing an item or two (or more!), then snap a photo with the car and share the love on social media.
