Marie Johnson

Marie Johnson joined M State in 2022 as a Senior Communications Specialist, writing and editing as a part of the college’s marketing team. She appreciates the power of effective communication, and she likes her work to make a positive difference in people’s lives. A former reporter and editor at community newspapers in Minnesota and Wisconsin, Johnson has more than 20 years of professional experience in writing and editing. Most recently before coming to M State, she was the Managing Editor of the Detroit Lakes Tribune and Perham Focus newspapers. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Johnson lives in Detroit Lakes with her husband and their two young children, plus two dogs and two guinea pigs. She likes to flower garden, sing, restore old wooden furniture, travel, take naps, pet dogs, hike, bike, kayak and just be out in nature as much as possible.
