Dr. Ken Kompelien was appointed Dean of the School of Health Sciences, Human Services and Nursing in January 2022, bringing to M State more than 25 years of academic excellence and higher education experience, with particular experience in healthcare education. His experience and expertise align with the college's mission, vision and values and with M State's goal of meeting the needs of the healthcare community and educating the next generation of healthcare workers. Kompelien earned his Ed.D. in Leadership and Professional Practice from Trevecca University and his master's degree in Counseling and bachelor's degree in Speech Communication, both from the University of North Dakota. He has researched and written extensively on the role of effective teams in organizations and the role of emotional intelligence as an indicator for success. When not working, Kompelien enjoys spending quality time with his family, fishing, playing tennis and time at the lake.
