Heidi Anderson has a master of arts degree in English/rhetoric and composition from St. Cloud State University (SCSU), a master of arts degree in teaching English as a second language from Minnesota State University in Moorhead, and a bachelor of arts degree in English from SCSU. She is also a graduate of M State's Fergus Falls campus, having earned her associate of arts degree in liberal arts.
Anderson joined M State as an English and English language instructor more than 15 years ago, following 13 years of teaching at the University of Minnesota in Duluth.
She believes students learn best when they are given opportunities to shape their learning experience; thus, she involves her students in classroom decision-making. Committed to equity-minded approaches to teaching that give students voice and agency, she allows her students to find success as they define it.
Anderson is a 2016 winner and 2022 nominee of the Minnesota Board of Trustees Outstanding Educator Award.
