Diana (Schirmer) Salter, MFA, holds a bachelor’s degree in English and mass communication, with minors in anthropology and publishing, and a master of fine arts degree in creative writing (fiction), both from Minnesota State University in Moorhead. Her short fiction works have been published in Toasted Cheese and Main Street Rag literary magazines.
In 2020, she completed a sabbatical project titled “Treading Toward Intrinsic Motivation: Fostering Incremental Success in the Writing Classroom,” reflecting her ongoing interest in student‑centered learning and growth. Her teaching philosophy is grounded in curiosity, which she views as essential to both effective learning and a fulfilling life.
Outside the classroom, she enjoys reading and makes it a point to try something new every day.
