Description: This course will examine a variety of multimedia tools used to create and deliver multimedia content for Web design and development projects, social media and mobile. Students will learn how to incorporate text, graphics, animation, sound and video into Web applications while adhering to Web standards. Timeline-based creation of animation, video and sound will be emphasized. Several platforms, software packages, hardware devices, browsers and Web services will be discussed.

Competencies:
  1. Identify the role of various media within Web and mobile applications.
  2. Examine software tools used in multimedia development.
  3. Use appropriate hardware to acquire and prepare media.
  4. Select appropriate software to create and edit media.
  5. Acquire and prepare text and graphics.
  6. Acquire and prepare sound and video files.
  7. Create Web animations using text, graphics, audio and video.
  8. Manipulate text, graphics, audio and video for use within Web and mobile applications.
  9. Understand the role of video delivery within Web technologies.
  10. Understand and apply Web accessibility theory to multimedia on the Web.
