Financial aid for summer semester is not included in the basic academic year award letter that provides financial aid estimates for fall and spring semesters. It is not necessary to complete a separate application for summer semester financial aid, but you must be registered for summer classes before you will receive a summer award letter. You will have access to your award letter through eServices in the Financial Aid section of your SpartanNet account. You are responsible for reading and following the directions in the award letter.
If you have not already completed a FAFSA for the 2017-2018 academic year, you must do so before you can be awarded financial aid for summer semester 2018. Each award year begins with fall semester and continues through summer semester. Students who have attended two full-time terms during the 2017-2018 academic year at any college will have used their Pell grants prior to summer semester unless you are enrolled for at least six credits in the summer. You may be eligible for a state grant if you are a Minnesota resident. If you have not borrowed your maximum amount in loans for the academic year, you may be eligible for loans if you are enrolled at least half time (six credits). Enrollment is determined by the total number of credits for the entire summer term. Financial aid disbursement dates may vary by program on the M State campuses during the summer. For additional information about your individual situation, contact your campus financial aid office or email email@example.com.
