Dr. Allan Chang has broad interests and expertise in various sub-disciplines within the biological sciences. He began as a pre-med student and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Political Science from Case Western Reserve University. He became interested in aquatic ecology research and earned a Master of Science in Biology from Case Western. For his master’s thesis, he used computer modeling to predict the location of fish habitat in the Great Lakes watersheds. He then fell in love with evolutionary biology and the potential of using microbes to experimentally evolve populations over thousands of generations. After receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 2013, he completed four years of molecular biology-related post-doctoral research at the University of Houston prior to joining the M State faculty in 2018.
