Criminal Justice

At M State, students who are seeking a career in law enforcement have the opportunity to complete all the educational and practical requirements necessary to apply for peace officer licensing. Our faculty have extensive experience in criminal justice, and students develop valuable on-the-job skills through our internship program.

Two-Year Occupational Grant Pilot Program

Two-year Occupational Grant Pilot Program imageThis program is eligible for the Minnesota Two-Year Occupational Grant Pilot Program. Participating students will have their tuition and fees paid after Federal Pell and Minnesota State grants have been applied to their accounts.

There is no separate application for this grant. Interested students apply by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or, for undocumented students, the Minnesota Dream Act Application. Funding is limited, so submit the FAFSA as early as possible since applicants will be ranked by their application date.

M State's Criminal Justice program has an articulation agreement with Minnesota State University Moorhead. Graduates from M State's program can transfer into MSUM's bachelor degree program in Criminal Justice.

Articulation agreements ensure that students completing specified coursework or degree programs at M State will transfer into designated programs at partner universities or colleges according to the terms of the agreement. This cooperative effort eliminates or minimizes the questions and confusion that sometimes accompany transfer and allows our students to be confident that their degree from M State will satisfy a substantive portion of the completion requirements for the bachelor's degree at the university or college they will be attending.
