Radiologic Technology

M State's 79-credit AAS degree in Radiologic Technology prepares entry-level radiologic technologists to provide the diagnostic medical images required for diagnosing and treating patients in various medical facilities.

Admission into the program is selective and highly competitive. Prospective students can review admission requirements in the Radiologic Technology Application Packet.

While many program courses are offered online, there are also on-campus and clinical experience requirements that will require students to travel to our Detroit Lakes campus and to health care facilities for clinical time. During the required clinical experiences, students work under the supervision of registered radiologic technologists.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to write the national certification exam of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

The M State Radiologic Technology program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.

The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology promotes excellence in education and elevates the quality and safety of patient care through the accreditation of educational programs in radiography, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance and medical dosimetry. The JRCERT is the only agency recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation for the accreditation of traditional and distance delivery educational programs in radiography, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance and medical dosimetry.

Background check and immunization requirements

State law requires that students having direct contact with individuals in licensed institutions complete a background study with the Minnesota Department of Human Services. The cost of this study is $20.

Students also are required to complete a national criminal background study. The cost of the national background check is $65 and is incurred by the student at the time the background study is submitted.

Students who do not pass either background check will not be allowed to participate in clinical activities and thus are not eligible for graduation.

Students in the Radiologic Technology program must have current CPR certification and immunizations.
