M State's student HR chapter earns national award
M State’s Student Human Resource Organization has received the 2019-20 national Superior Merit Award for providing superior growth and development opportunities for its student members.
The designation is awarded by the national Society for Human Resource Management to outstanding student chapters and recognizes chapters for their operations, programming, professional development of members, support of the human resource profession and SHRM engagement.
M State’s SHRO, based on the Moorhead campus, has been affiliated with SHRM since 2006. The student group currently has 15 members and is advised by Human Resource faculty member Loren Haagenson.
During the past academic year, its members volunteered at the campus job fair and assisted with a variety of M State student life activities. Students also had an opportunity to network with human resource professionals at community events.
The mission of the chapter includes introducing students to opportunities in the field of human resources and keeping students informed of developments in the profession.
