M State graduate Anthony Gerasch was the gold medal winner in the recent national SkillsUSA Championships, taking the top prize in the Power Equipment Technology category.
Gerasch, of Chetek, Wis., graduated in May with high academic honors from the PowerSports and Marine Technology program on M State’s Detroit Lakes campus. He advanced to the national competition in Louisville, Ky., after medaling in the state Skills competition this spring.
At the national competition, held June 26-27, Gerasch and other competitors in his category worked against the clock and each other to demonstrate their expertise in Power Equipment Technology including two- and four-cycle engines, engine theory, drive trains, hydraulics, wiring schematics and customer service.
“We are very proud of Anthony’s accomplishments,” said Kent Reisenauer, Gerasch’s advisor at M State. “He and the other students who participated in the Power Equipment Technology competition are true champions in their dedication to excellence in their trade and their leadership skills.”
