M State welcomes music lovers for vocal, band concerts

April 15, 2022

M State showcases its musical talent in a pair of upcoming concerts that combine performances by both vocal and band groups on the Fergus Falls campus. Both are free and open to the public.

The Combined Band and Choir Concert, “Stage & Screen,” is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, April 24. The concert will include some of the best musical numbers from Broadway, movie soundtracks and musicals, including songs from Andrew Lloyd Weber, Lord of the Rings and John Williams.

At 7 p.m. Thursday, April 28, the Spring Extravaganza Concert will feature the Jazz Band, Voice Ensemble and solos and ensemble performances in an evening of serenading from the famous Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy to songs from some of latest Disney movies.

This concert is for all ages to enjoy along with popcorn, candy and refreshments. Interact with our musicians and audience members, enjoy a treat and consider it an evening full of entertainment!

The M State Concert Choir and Voice Ensemble are directed by Laura Quaintance, and Jim Iverson directs the Concert and Jazz bands.

“We are thrilled to return to Legacy Hall for concerts this spring and invite the community out to two events filled with unforgettable music,” Quaintance said. “Our musicians have thoroughly enjoyed their rehearsals this semester and are excited to share it with the audiences.”
