M State grad named to ND nursing home board
M State nursing graduate Brittany Larson has been appointed to the North Dakota Board of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators by North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum.
Larson earned her practical nursing degree in May 2019 and currently works at Sanford Heath in its North Fargo Family Medicine facility and part time with Eventide, a provider of senior living facilities in Fargo. She also worked for two years as a certified nursing assistant for Sanford Health.
As a student on the Moorhead campus, Larson had served as president of the Nursing Student Organization in 2019.
“I enjoyed my leadership role and was looking for an opportunity to use my nursing knowledge in a similar role,” said Larson, who was appointed to a three-year term.
She is the lone nurse representative on the nine-member board, which licenses nursing home administrators, investigates complaints and adopts federal requirements regarding administrative standards.
“Since I’m new to the board, my goal is to fully understand the position and help keep our North Dakota nursing homes safe, Larson said, adding that “I’m grateful for my instructors at M State as they helped me become the nurse I am, pushed me outside my comfort zones and encouraged me to pursue my dreams.
