Exhibit captures 'feel' of Minnesota

October 18, 2021

Paintings of Minnesota landscapes by Iranian-born artist Leila Rastegar will be on display in M State’s Legacy Hall from Oct. 20 through Jan. 7. Her show, “Feeling Nature,” is free and open to the public.

Rastegar aspired as a child to be a professional artist, but her first college degree was in Computer Engineering from Shiraz University in 1988. She still dreamed of attending art school, however, and followed that dream after she immigrated to the United States with her family in 2001.

She attended North Dakota State University, where she assisted in the gallery operation at the Memorial Union Gallery, and she earned her Master of Fine Arts in painting and drawing at the University of North Dakota in 2011.

Her current work encompasses a series of Minnesota landscapes designed to “capture the soul” of the state. Rastegar, who lives in Eden Prairie, has exhibited extensively in Minnesota and North Dakota and is currently a full-time artist.
