Event Archive. Environmental activist Winona LaDuke at M State on Oct. 3

Area residents are invited to a brown bag lunch with environmental activist Winona LaDuke at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 3, in Legacy Hall on the Fergus Falls campus of Minnesota State Community and Technical College.

LaDuke is executive director of the indigenous environmental organization Honor the Earth.

In her keynote address, “The Seventh Fire,” she will speak about her recent work on regional environmental issues such as the Minnesota pipeline and cultural reclamation work based on sustainable, heirloom food and fiber crops. Admission is free, and attendees will be able to purchase items in support of the work of Honor the Earth.

Her appearance is sponsored by the M State Sociology Department and the Underwood Unitarian Church.

“The Sociology Department is committed to community-focused learning for M State students. Ms. LaDuke and her organization, Honor the Earth, are important department partners,” said Dr. Sue Wika, sociology instructor at the Fergus Falls campus.
