Students explore energy-related careers
There was no shortage of energy as 6th graders from the Staples Motley School District dug into a variety of technical programs on Minnesota State Community and Technical College’s Wadena campus on Friday, Feb. 23. The students are all participants in Metier, a Region V NJPA grant-funded program that encourages 5th and 6th graders to explore their career interests. Their campus visit was designed to showcase the varied career opportunities in the energy and electrical industries, from technical careers to owning or managing a business. Students cycled through hands-on activities in M State’s Electrical Line Worker, Electrical Technology, HVAC and Gas Utility Service Construction programs and in the areas of safety and electrical contractor/business owner.
