M State hosts 280 firefighters for Fire & Rescue School
More than 280 firefighters from Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota attended the annual State Fire & Rescue School on March 10-11 on the Detroit Lakes campus of Minnesota State Community and Technical College. Instructors from throughout Minnesota and North Dakota offered training in courses including vehicle extrication, fire apparatus pump operations and National Fire Academy leadership. Hands-on equipment provided by the Minnesota state fire marshal allowed firefighters to simulate cutting into roofs with power equipment and extinguishing fires involving barbeque grills and LP tanks. The training was hosted by M State with sponsors Ferrellgas and the fire departments of Detroit Lakes, Frazee, Callaway and Audubon. Numerous fire equipment and fire service vendors were on hand to showcase firefighting equipment.
