Broadway performer leading master class at M State

Broadway singer J. Mark McVey will lead a master vocal class open to staff, students and community members on Minnesota State Community and Technical College’s Fergus Falls campus on Monday, March 26.

McVey, who will appear with the Fergus Falls Concert Association the evening of March 26, will listen to performances by three M State vocal students and work with them in front of the audience to enhance their skills. McVey also will perform several numbers as part of the master class, which will be from 11-11:50 a.m. in the Waage Theatre.

Tickets are not required, and the master class is open to the public. The M State students who will be participating are Sydney Imsande of New York Mills, Madicyn Monsrud of Roseau and Jamie Olson of Fergus Falls.

McVey’s appearance is sponsored by the M State Music Department as part of the department’s ongoing guest artist series.

McVey made his Broadway debut in “Les Miserables” and has performed at Carnegie Hall and with numerous symphonies around the country and internationally. He is also a Helen Hayes Award winner for Outstanding Actor.
