See what’s cooking at M State’s 2017 summer camps

Fergus Falls Scrubs Camp participants

Like to cook? Want to build things? Interested in a career in health care or STEM? Then check out the camps scheduled this summer on the campuses of Minnesota State Community and Technical College.

Here’s what’s planned for middle and high school students:

Detroit Lakes campus


For: Students entering grades 7-9

When: Tuesday, June 6

Details: Campers will be involved in hands-on sessions and experiments in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Cost is $25.

Fergus Falls campus

Scrubs Camp

For: Students entering grades 9-12

When: Monday, June 19, through Wednesday, June 21

Details: Campers will explore careers in the health care field and get involved in hands-on activities related to health care and the health sciences. Cost is $150.

Moorhead campus

The Herdina Academy for the Construction Trades

For: Minnesota and North Dakota high school students ages 15 and older who are interested in the construction trades

When: June 5-16

Details: Students can earn three college credits for the two-week course, where they’ll build sheds, explore career opportunities and work side-by-side with contractors. All sessions are supervised by qualified high school instructors. Cost is $25.

Culinary Camp

For: Students entering grades 9-12

When Monday, June 26, through Wednesday, June 28

Details: Young chefs will learn about the basics of food selection, preparation, execution and presentation. There will be a new culinary experience every day! Cost is $100.

Scrubs Camp, in partnership with MSUM

For: Students entering grades 9-12

When: Monday, July 30, through Friday, Aug. 4

Details: Students who sign up for the week-long Scrubs Camp on the Minnesota State University Moorhead campus will spend July 31 and Aug. 1 on our Moorhead campus learning about the health science programs offered there. Cost for the residential camp is $480, and scholarships are available.
