M State’s Schreiner advances to national SkillsUSA competition

Minnesota State Community and Technical College student Zach Schreiner is advancing to the national SkillsUSA competiton after winning first place in the recent Minnesota SkillsUSA annual event in Bloomington.

Schreiner, a second-year student in the Diesel Equipment Technology program on M State’s Moorhead campus, was the top state competitor in the Diesel Equipment Technology category. The national event is June 19-23 in Louisville, Ky.

Schreiner, a 2015 graduate of Sauk Rapids High School, is currently completing an internship at Nelson International in Fargo and plans to continue working at the company following his M State graduation in May. He also received an Academic Excellence Award for his academic achievements at M State during an awards ceremony at the college April 17.

SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit that serves high school and college students who are preparing for careers in a trade, technical and skilled service occupations. Its state and national competitions are based on industry-driven occupational skills standards.
