M State singers take the stage at Carnegie Hall

Fourteen students from Minnesota State Community and Technical College will perform as part of the Masterwork Festival Chorus at New York’s Carnegie Hall on April 10.

The 14 will be joined by six M State Chamber Chorale community members in the performance of the Faure Requiem by the Festival Chorus and the New York City Chamber Orchestra.

Participating M State students are Tyler Owen (Alexandria); Megan Riedel (Clarissa); Isaiah Moengen (Crosslake); Allyson Jensen (Dawson); Dustin Crider (Eagle Bend); Gabby Burkhardsmeier, Taylor Leapaldt, Mary Gettel, Abby Lindgren and Liz Wedll (Fergus Falls); Cassidy Anderson and Jacob Haugen (Henning); and Damon Tumberg and Sidney Imsande (New York Mills)

M State Choral Director Teresa Ashworth said the Chamber Chorale was invited to perform along with vocal groups and colleges from New York, Alabama, and California. Festival Chorus members will have three four-hour rehearsals with renowned conductor Bruce Rogers of Mount San Antonio Community College in Walnut, Calif., prior to the group’s evening performance on April 10.

M State choirs have performed previously in the concert, formerly called the National Two-Year Community College Festival.
