M State’s Surgical Technology program earns national accreditation

The Surgical Technology program at Minnesota State Community and Technical College has been awarded national accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Allied Health Programs.

The two-year program, offered on M State’s Moorhead campus, prepares surgical technologists to assist physicians, anesthesiologists and nurses throughout the surgical process at medical facilities. Enrollment in the program has increased by 40 percent since it began in January 2015, and the placement rate for graduates is currently 100 percent.

Graduates of the two-year associate degree program may sit for the National Board for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Certified Surgical Technologist exam. The CST credential is nationally recognized by hospitals and surgical centers.
