M State pays musical tribute to Otter Tail County’s beauty

Come celebrate the beauty of Otter Tail County at the Minnesota State Community and Technical College Chamber Chorale’s Spring Concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 12, in Legacy Hall on the college’s Fergus Falls campus.

Chamber Chorale Director Teresa Ashworth said the concert – her first multimedia program – is a tribute to both the natural beauty of the area and the awakening of new life that comes with the spring. Musical numbers by the 55-member Chorale will be accompanied by photographs contributed by area residents.

The concert opens with Mozart’s Veni Sancte Spiritus, accompanied by 16 members of the Fergus Falls High School Chamber Orchestra and guests.

The multimedia program highlights, through music and photography, the beauty of sunrises, wildlife, trains, the night sky, trees and country churches. The final number, The Road Home, is a tribute to Minnesota composer Stephen Paulus, who died in 2014.

The multi-media show is the work of M State multimedia technology specialist Jeff Haukos.

Tickets are $9 in advance and $11 at the door for adults, and $7 in advance and $8 at the door for students. Tickets can be purchased at the M State Box Office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and one hour to the performance, by calling 218.736.1600 or online at www.mstatetickets.com.
