M State instructors recognized for excellence in teaching

Four instructors at Minnesota State Community and Technical College were recognized with state and national education awards this spring.

Shana Petermann, a microbiology instructor on the Moorhead campus, was named an Educator of the Year for Excellence in Teaching, one of four college faculty members to receive the statewide award from the Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.

James Bainer, an instructor in the Diesel Equipment Technology program on the Moorhead campus, was recognized by MnSCU as an Outstanding Educator.

Two instructors on M State’s Detroit Lakes campus, Dr. Eric Wilkens and Randy Roberts, received Excellence Awards from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development and will be recognized formally at the NISOD International Conference on Teaching and Learning in Austin, Texas, in May.

Wilkens is an instructor in the college’s Information Technology program, and Roberts is an instructor in the Architectural Technology program.
